Plant Overview

Weigela Spilled Wine

Weigela florida 'Spilled Wine'

Weigela 'Spilled Wine' is a deciduous flowering shrub. Deep burgundy foliage on a wide-spreading, low groundcover form with pink flowers in spring. Excellent for slopes, banks, and mass plantings where a low, colorful, spreading shrub is needed. Thrives in full sun with average, well-drained soil. Very cold hardy and easy to grow. Prune right after flowering to maintain shape. An excellent choice for mixed borders and wildlife plantings — trumpet-shaped blooms are highly attractive to hummingbirds throughout the season.
