Plant Overview
Grass Chasmanthium Northern Sea Oats
Chasmanthium latifolium
Chasmanthium 'Northern Sea Oats' is a native ornamental shade grass. A beautiful native shade grass with distinctive, flat oat-like seed heads that dangle gracefully on arching stems. Foliage turns attractive copper-orange in fall — an outstanding plant for shaded woodland gardens. Thrives in part shade to full shade with moist, well-drained soil. One of the few ornamental grasses that performs beautifully in shaded conditions. Excellent for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and naturalistic plantings where attractive oat-like seed heads provide interest from summer through winter.
